Yesterday we had dinner at the Tam O'Shanter for the first time! We've always wanted to go there because of it's ties to Disney. Walt Disney used to go there for lunch since it is not too far from the studio. He and other animators went there so often that they would even refer to Tam O'Shanter as the studio commissary. Walt would usually sit at Table 31 and we were delighted to be able to eat at that very table.
We got there around 6 while it was still light out. The building has a lot of character and almost looks like a cottage.
There is a telephone booth outside the building not far from the door.

Outside there was also a sign stating that it's a Monumental Business.

We also spotted this drawing from the Walt Disney Studios congratulating the Tam on 75 years.

Our table wasn't ready yet so we went to the bar for a drink. I got the rosé which was pretty good and Jared got a Harp beer.

Once our table was ready we headed over...to Table 31 where Walt used to sit! Here it is:

Above the table was this artwork:

The table even has a plaque that says "This was a favorite spot of Walt Disney and his Imagineers."

You could also see sketches made by Disney animators etched in the table top. So cool! You can see a dinosaur in the picture below.

We were very excited to be there!

Because we were at Table 31, we each ordered the cocktail called "Table 31" which is Templeton rye, jasmine liqueur, and apple bitters. It was well balanced- not too sweet and just right. I don't usually get rye drinks but I really enjoyed this one and would order it again.

We shared some appetizers among the table. We got deviled eggs which were good and the sweet corn fritters which were our favorite! We'd definitely get the corn fritters again.

For the entree, I got the Grilled Top Sirloin Steak which came with lemon garlic rice, summer squash, tomatoes, and pearl onions. It was delicious!

Jared got a three course meal. It started with a summer peach salad that was almost too pretty to eat!

For his entree, he got the prime rib which was a California cut.

And for dessert, he got the berry cobbler. The cobber was so good! We ate every bite.

We also got the chocolate souffle which was warm chocolatey goodness. If you plan to get it make sure to order it early, it takes extra time to prepare.

We had a wonderful time at the Tam O'Shanter and hope to go back sometime! Thanks to our friends for their company and for setting up the reservation. If you're a fan of Walt Disney and Los Angeles history, we suggest visiting the Tam O'Shanter if you are ever in the area.

We hope you enjoyed this look at the Tam O'Shanter!
