Beauty and the Beast in Concert - Hollywood Bowl

This past Friday we went to the Hollywood Bowl to watch Beauty and the Beast in Concert!

Located in Hollywood, California, the Hollywood Bowl is a big amphitheater with a view of the famous Hollywood sign.  (We included some info about attending a show at this venue at the end of this post.)

At this performance, we watched Disney's animated Beauty and the Beast while a live orchestra played and an all star cast sang the songs.  It was a really fun way to see the film!

As soon as we arrived we spotted some fun photo backdrops and took a couple photos. 

They had other photo backdrops around the Hollywood Bowl as well!  We liked that they even had a staff member to take our photo for us.  We love this picture!

Once it was almost showtime we went to our seats.  They had Disney music playing as we arrived including Figment's song "One Little Spark" from Journey Into Imagination.  Before the show started they had a new Disney acappella group (DCappella) perform a few Disney tunes as well.

Then it was time for the show and the film began.  We liked that they had projections on the theater that went with the film.

  

The cast starred Zooey Deschanel as Belle, Taye Diggs as Gaston, and Anthony Evans as Beast. We didn't really film it but here's a quick snapchat video of Zooey Deschanel as Belle.

Our favorites included Rebel Wilson who played LeFou.  Her enthusiasm was contagious and she pretty much stole every scene she was in.

Kelsey Grammer was great as Lumiere (it's like watching Sideshow Bob perform) and Jane Krakowski was lovely as Mrs Potts.  

At the end of the show, Alan Menkin, the film score composer of Beauty and the Beast and other great Disney classics, arrived and performed a Beauty and the Beast medley.

It was a fun and lovely evening and we had a great time!

Here's a quick Hollywood Bowl tip list in case you are headed there for a show this summer!

-  Get there early so you have time to find parking!

-  If you chose to park at the Hollywood Bowl parking, make sure you note that it is stacked parking.  (Meaning that you cannot leave early since you will be parked in.)

-  There are other parking lots around the bowl, or you can also park at Hollywood/Highland and take one of their shuttles if you purchase a shuttle ticket.

-  You can bring food/drink to some performances but the rules vary- make sure you check ahead!

-  It can get chilly at night so bring a warm sweater or blanket.
